Northstar Commercial Partners Supports 2016 Junior Achievement’s “Golden Ticket” Giveaway to Encourage Students to Think Big

DENVER, Colo., June 5, 2015 — This month, Northstar Commercial Partnersunderwrote the cost for Rocky Mountain Junior Achievement‘s “JA In A Day” program to be hosted at Academy 360, the Denver/Montbello area charter school that Northstar recently purchased a 60,000 SF building for.

Local Junior Achievement volunteers spent the day at Academy 360, teaching elementary-aged students about work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Junior Achievement’s mission is dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy.

Sally Sorte, Founder and Executive Director of Academy 360, spoke highly of the day intensive and the overall experience for the school: “Our students really enjoyed the opportunity to learn from the Junior Achievement community members through a dynamic, hands-on curriculum,” Sorte said.

“The lessons on community, sharing, and early financial literacy align with our 360 wraparound approach of a mind, body, character education.”

As part of Junior Achievement’s interactive training, students played games that taught them valuable lessons and problem solving skills. This included learning about community, the value of money, and the importance of different careers.

“Northstar is proud to partner with Junior Achievement of Colorado as well as Academy 360 to help these young minds reach their goals and find success in these foundational areas,” said Brian Watson, Founder and CEO of Northstar Commercial Partners.

“This kind of preparation plants seeds that will grow into lifelong skills for Academy 360 students, like a responsible approach to money and educated views on future career opportunities.”

Northstar is working to foster a continued, long-term relationship with Academy 360.

Earlier this year, Northstar was able to find and acquire a new facility to meet the school’s educational needs, as well as its growing student enrollment. Because of the new facility, Academy 360 will be able to increase their school size from 130 to 189 students and add 4th grade.
